IAA Transportation 2024, held in Hannover, was a key event for the transport industry, with a focus on sustainable solutions, digitalisation and smart mobility. Ford Trucks stood out with the presentation of its new-generation vehicle range, including the upgraded F-MAX and the new F-LINE series, designed for different sectors such as road, construction and freight. These models are characterised by efficiency, comfort and connectivity, with advanced technologies to optimise safety and performance on the road.

One of the most relevant announcements was the introduction of tractor units equipped with cameras instead of mirrors. This camera system not only improves driver visibility by eliminating blind spots, but also contributes to greater driving safety by facilitating complex manoeuvres such as turning or reversing. The cameras project images onto internal screens, providing a real-time view and avoiding many of the traditional accidents associated with the limited visibility offered by conventional rear-view mirrors.

Ford Trucks continues to pursue its vision of more efficient and sustainable transportation, with a strong emphasis on connected technologies and zero-emission vehicles, such as its electric truck, which will be available from 2025.

The Spanish Confederation of Freight Transport (CETM), together with the CNTC, have transferred to the Department of Promotion of Competition of the National Commission of Markets and Competition, their concern for the abuse and helplessness suffered by transport companies against The generality of its customers.

Both associations argue that customers take advantage of the fragility of a sector that, despite its enormous strategic value as a collective, has a very weak and atomized business fabric, without the advantages generated by the economy at scales and costs, and that it does not have the necessary regulatory tools to defend itself in a transport market that is completely hostile to them.

During the meeting, the CNMC emphasized that it is declared absolutely contrary to the practices that have been shown to them as usual in the sector, such as certain down-payment auctions or payment terms exceeding those established by law.

For this reason, the CNMC has expressed itself in favor of carrying out a study of the transport market that allows determining the existence of a position of the loaders, as it happened in the agricultural sector, and that justified the implementation in protection measures similar to those taken then. For its part, the CETM believes that the problem will only be solved with the implementation of a rule that prohibits and fines those shippers who pay an abusively low price.

Consequently, he urges the Ministry of Development to work together, also with the collaboration of the CNMC, in the preparation of the study, to change certain practices.

More than 100,000 Spanish truckers have sued the truck manufacturers that formed a cartel that was dedicated to inflate the sales prices of new trucks during a period of 14 years that lasted from 1997 to 2011. In 2011, the European Commission itself started an investigation into the matter (the manufacturers also avoided adapting the exported vehicles to save environmental costs).

The lawsuits are following two paths, that of justice in Spain and Germany, and which aim to recover, on average, 16.5% of the cost of the vehicle in its day, which means an average of € 12,000 per vehicle. In total, as we mentioned before, manufacturers would have to return around 1,200 million euros.

German justice is the fastest because there is already jurisprudence. On October 15, a judgment was issued in favor of the truckers in a complaint of this type, with the judge ruling that it is proportionate to claim up to 15% of the value of the vehicle.

For this reason, many truck drivers have chosen to make a macrodemand in the German country. On the other hand, in Spain, the lawsuits go through the courts of the Mercantile. Apparently there could be two previous lawsuits with a ruling in favor of the plaintiffs that could serve as precedents.

The European Parliament has approved this Wednesday by 373 votes in favor, 285 against and 16 abstentions, a notable cut to the pollution for which the trucks are responsible, which should reduce their CO2 emissions by 20% in 2025, and 35 % in 2030 in relation to the 2019 level. The measure represents a step forward so that for the first time the European Union will stop the emissions of trucks, until now exempt from regulations that would impose borders. For final approval, the rules must be discussed by the Member States and re-voted by the European Parliament.

Trucks represent only 5% of the vehicles that circulate on European roads, but are responsible for 22% of the total emissions from this type of transport. The new norm tries to shorten in part this abyss by eliminating from the air that Europeans breathe a good portion of polluting particles. Brussels talks about a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions of 54 million tons between 2020 and 2030, the equivalent of all those launched in a year Sweden, a country of 10 million inhabitants.

The European Commission proposed in May some thresholds of 15 and 30% for 2025 and 2030 respectively, which now the European Parliament has hardened. Brussels has insisted that the change will be beneficial, not only in the environmental aspect, but also for transport companies, many of them SMEs, given that they will spend around 5,000 euros less per year in fuel, a section that represents 30% of your invoice.

The automotive industry does not see it clearly. He does not deny that there is a transformation in progress, but he fights so that the bar is not so high. “Increasing the objectives increases the risks given that the regulation goes beyond what is technically feasible in this segment of vehicles,” says Sigrid de Vries, general secretary of CLEPA, the European employer association of automotive suppliers. His offer has been light years ahead of the decision of the MEPs. The manufacturers were in favor of a drop in emissions of 7% in 2025 and 16% in 2030.

The ACEA, the organization that includes the seven largest European truck manufacturers DAF, Daimler, Iveco, MAN, Scania, Volkswagen and Volvo, has shown its concern for what it estimates, a too ambitious leap. The entity already considered the figures of the European Commission difficult to implement, reason why it has described the new levels of “excessively aggressive”. The association fears its effects for competitiveness, and trusts that member countries will retouch those objectives to the downside. “MEPs seem to be unabashedly ignoring the fact that the electrification potential of the truck fleet is much less than that of cars, due to problems such as extremely high initial costs, limited autonomy, insufficient infrastructure, in particular along the motorways, and also the reluctant customers, “criticized its secretary general, Erik Jonnaert.

With the new year disappears the possibility that the autonomous communities had to apply a tax surcharge on fuel, integrating the state tax with the highest value: 4.8 cents per liter. Measure that makes it more interesting to be registered in the Professional Gas Oil census.

On January 1, 2019, the regulation of the Hydrocarbons Tax is modified, so that the application of the regional section ceases to be the responsibility of the regional governments and the maximum limit of 4.8 cents per liter for the communities is established. In this way, the fiscal pressure of fuels in peninsular Spain and the Balearic Islands is equalized.

According to Fenadismer, which recommends transporters with vehicles of at least 7.5 tons of MMA that register in the Census of Beneficiaries of Professional Diesel of the Tax Agency, in case they have not done it before, to As of January, the refund will be 4.9 cents per liter: 4.8 cents of the old regional tranche, plus 1 cent of the national tranche.

Limits that are due to the regulation of the EU on this type of compensation to certain professional activities. As a consequence of this modification, in the Basque Country, Cantabria, Castilla-León, La Rioja and Navarra, the price of fuel will increase by 4.8 cents per liter; in Madrid, 3.1 cents; 2,4 in Aragón; 1 in Extremadura; and 0.8 in Asturias. The other communities already applied the maximum rate.

The CNTC (National Road Transport Committee), after the meeting held on November 22, has ruled in favor of a stop employer in the transport of goods by road (with 94.9%) if they do not see their requests answered , both by the shippers and by the administrations before January 15, 2019 as the deadline. The document prepared by the committee details the main requests to urgently negotiate both estates.

However, the main point that the CNTC considers essential is to recognize the transport of goods as a strategic sector of the national economy, mainly by public administrations. The measures agreed by the CNTC are the following:

1.- Commitment to the non-application of the Eurovignette directive and repeal of the measures taken to divert heavy goods from toll roads.

2.- Modification of the transportation contract law, repealing the possibility of an agreement to the contrary in the following matters: payment terms, application of the clause to revise the price of fuel and loading and unloading operations.

3.- Measures in favor of the fight against letterbox companies.

4.- Coordination of mobility plans.

5.- Tax harmonization in the sector.

6.- Solution to bottlenecks in border crossings.

7.- Negotiation and rationalization in the ecological transition policy.

8.- Creation of rest areas plans throughout the daily network with certification of safe area.

9.- Modification of the regulation of direct action, extending its exercise to transport operators.

10.- Inclusion in the regime of professional diesel to all professional transport of goods.

11.- Suspension in the approval of the ROTT without consensus of the National Committee.

12.- After the consultation carried out to the National Commission of the Markets and the regulatory Competition of this measure, in positive case, to prohibit by law its realization in the transport sector, under alusively low economic conditions.

However, both CNTC and the CETM have expressly extended the closing date of the negotiations until January 15, with the aim of not causing serious harm to society in terms of the distribution of perishable products on such critical dates as those they are coming.

At the beginning of summer we heard about a contest organized by the Diputación de Almería, in which companies could participate to see which had the best RSC and with the prize to help an NGO that the winner chose.

From Almerisan, we did not hesitate at any time to sign up, and from that moment we decided to prepare our participation in order to demonstrate our responsibility to society and the environment. For weeks we were preparing all the information about our sustainable actions to send to the deputation. Actually our intention in the contest was to check the level of our RSC and what we can improve it. Once all the necessary documentation and presentation had been sent, we only had to wait until the verdict of the judges of the Diputación.

But before the verdict, they asked all the companies for a small video explaining and showing how RSC are being met. Once in the awards ceremony, they give as winners to “Caparro Nature” (our most sincere congratulations), and they tell us that we have been second. In the end the objective of this contest is not to see who are the best, but to help an NGO and show that small businesses also contribute our grain of sand to improve society and avoid the loss of the environment.

In the category of large companies, he won the first “Cosentino” prize, which we also want to congratulate for his great work.

During October 18 and 19, we organized open days to publicize and show the Hitachi machinery. During these two days we opened the doors of our house to everyone who wanted to go though if only to see what was happening.

As always we tried to make all the attendees feel like at home, for this we prepared a select selection of products from the region so that they did not lack anything while they could see and try while doing some fun activities with the machinery.

These days were the idea of our commercial director of used vehicles: Francisco Manuel Sanchez, so we decided to talk to him to inform us more carefully about how the idea came about and the reception from an audience that is not used to such an event. .

Where did the idea of organizing such an event come from?
In Almerisan we always want to be at the forefront and therefore after taking the distribution of the Region of Murcia, it was time to make an appeal.

What was the objective of the days?
That they know us, judge us, look at us, compare us ... In the end we seek to be always in the minds of people who may need a product or service that we offer. We just want you to keep us in mind. We know that thanks to our tireless work we will achieve that the rest arrive by their own weight. With these days we wanted to show our brand, HITACHI. That the customer sees the quality of the product up close. Let it start, move it, put it to the test and see that what we say are words with contrasted facts. Show our house, everything we can offer and how we do it.

What expectations did you have around the event?
The expectations were very high. We trusted in the assistance of all the people who are already clients or those we look for and want them to be. In the end, with more than 55 years of experience you know a lot of people. We knew it was going to be great, although they have been overcome. Not only those who have warned have come, but those who have found out through the press or the radio. Those we did not know and we tried to do it. Those are the ones that have exceeded expectations.

And finally, how is such an event organized?
With a lot of effort and passion for our work. Doing the maximum to please attendees in all aspects. Protocol, exhibition, gifts, gastronomy ... In the end it is like our day to day, to do our best to offer the best and most efficient.
How did you find out about the event? The truth is that I've been following Almerisan for years on their social networks as daily content is quite varied and curious, so I found out right away that they were going to hold a few open doors and I knew I could not miss it. How would you rate your experience? Honestly, I did not expect an event of such magnitude, I knew that the people of Almerisan would not disappoint or settle for a classic event but at no time imagined that it would be something so enjoyable and enriching. Did you know the Hitachi brand? Yes, but the truth is that I had never considered having one since it is not a brand that usually sees a lot around here, but I have to say that seen what is seen is a great product from the hand of a large company. What advice would you give to improve the event? Honestly I do not know how I could improve, until the last detail was measured. The theme of the tasting of the cuisine was a very good touch to liven up the days and the detail of the gifts seemed a great idea. But if I had to say something bad about the event, it's only once a year. On behalf of the Almerisan team, we would like to thank all those attending the conference for helping us to publicize our Hitachi brand. Finally, to say that although the days have ended, our doors are always open for anyone who wants to cross them.

The Superior Court of Justice of Valencia has issued a ruling granting an authorization to transport a heavy vehicle (MDP) to an applicant without having to prove the minimum fleet requirement with a single vehicle regardless of its age. The judicial decision has not been slow in being described as "aberrant" by Fenadismer, "since it incorrectly applies" the judgment of the European Court of Justice.

At this point, from this organization do not hesitate to require the Ministry of Development to appeal in cassation before the Supreme Court "to the passivity of the Generalitat Valenciana, to prevent such sentence is executed, as this would seriously affect the current legislation of the the road freight transport sector ".

As it could not be otherwise, this issue was present at the meeting held on October 1, between the new Director General of Land Transport, Mercedes Gómez, and the National Transport Committee, during which the ministerial representative confirmed that the processing of the ROTT continues its course, pending the request of report to the State Council, so that the project will foreseeably enter into force at the beginning of 2019, although it could be delayed depending on the terms of issuance of the report and approval by the Minister council.

In any case, the new access regime to the sector will maintain the current seniority requirement to access the sector, so the only requirement that will be modified will be the minimum fleet in compliance with the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union. last February, as it transcends the meeting held today in Development.

Other issues raised were those related to the processing of the European mobility package, mandatory deviations to toll motorways, the new regulation on the stowage of goods on board transport vehicles, the inspection and control of relocated companies, and the cooperatives that act fraudulently with false self-employed workers, the permanent problems of traffic congestion at the Irún / Biriatou border crossing due to the actions of the French authorities, the development of the logistic single window and the digitalization of the transport documentation, the negotiations between the associations of shippers and carriers, the participation of road transport in the Government's Plan of ecological transition, the increase of taxation on diesel and the Training Plans for the road transport sector.

We spoke with Paco Sánchez, our commercial director of new vehicles and Hitachi machinery, about his experience at the IAA in Hannover.

Where did the idea of going?
The idea arose from the constant worries we have about the future to try to anticipate, I think the last euro 6 is the end of the diesel / gasoline engines and will give way to the totally green, as can be the different gases, large capacity batteries and various ways to connect to the electricity network.

What was the purpose of attending the event?
Our objective was to see the trends of the different manufacturers and suppliers in the sector as well as their ability to adapt to what is to come.

What has been the highlight for you?
In my opinion, without a doubt, the highlight was the different tests of the different driverless trucks that are able to maneuver without any problem. It is also worth mentioning the tremendous change that will be made in a short time in the sector both in manufacturing and in the elaboration of regulations and the great importance of the training of human resources.

Anything else that caught your attention?
Well, the truth is, I was very struck by the fact that there were very few exhibitions about fossil fuel engines, which clearly indicates that we are facing the last throes of an era. What expectations did you have? The truth is that I had no expectations, since I did not want to have an image in mind that later did not correspond with reality, but for next year I will have very high expectations.

Do you recommend going to the fair? Without a doubt, I think it’s something really interesting and where you learn and discover a lot about the future of the industrial vehicle sector.

Fomento expects to spend up to 41 million euros in tolls for trucks.   The council of ministers approved the decree law that vetoes the traffic of heavy vehicles on both roads, authentic black spots of the Catalan road network, and will establish its obligatory circulation on the AP-7 and AP-2 highways. The measure, had been stuck in the administration due to the doubt about the bonus that the trucks will have when they arrive at the tolls.

The government has already installed the signage that warns of the obligatory deviation by the highway of trucks of four axes or higher. Fomento defends the measure alleging that it seeks to improve the “functionality and safety” of the vertebrate road corridor by the N-340 and the AP-7, between Peñíscola and l’Hospitalet de l’Infant, as well as the section between Altafulla and Vilafranca del Penedès Regarding the N-240, the section vetoed for trucks goes from Les Borges Blanques to Montblanc. This measure copies the remedy that was applied, in 2013, on the N-II road passing through Girona.

Removing the N-II heavy trucks and forcing them to drive on the highway has reduced mortality by 60%. Fomento aims to copy the model on the N-340 and on the N-240, it will mean “a significant improvement in road safety”. Until the end of the concession that the Albertis Group has on both toll roads (December 31, 2019 AP-7 and August 31, 2021 AP-2), the trucks will be subject to a system of discounts that will vary between 42% and 50% of the standard fare, depending on the mileage of the journeys. In fact, not only do the trucks benefit from the reduction of fares, since a total rebate of the toll is also foreseen for the tourists who make the round trip in a single day, within the section between Alcanar and Vilafranca. It will be necessary for drivers to have a Telepago system to benefit from the discount. The government assumes the cost of compensation to the concessionaire for the toll reduction and has calculated that the measure will mean a maximum expenditure of 41 million euros until 2021.

The French tire manufacturer has announced that its tires will be manufactured 100% with recycled materials, of which 80% will be manufactured with sustainable materials. Currently, the global tire recovery rate is 70%, while the recycling rate is 50%, Roget said.

Likewise, today Michelin tires are manufactured with 28% sustainable materials (26% of biological origin such as rubber or sunflower oil, among others) and 2% come from recycled materials such as steel or wood dust. recycled tires. To achieve the goal set for 2048, Michelin will invest in research programs on materials of biological origin, as well as through advanced technologies and materials that are being developed with other partners.

The French manufacturer’s forecast is that once these measures are achieved in 2048, the annual savings will be equivalent to 33 million barrels of oil per year; to the total energy consumption of one month in France; to 65,000 million kilometers driven by a vehicle with a consumption of 8 l / 100 km; or to all European cars driving 225 kilometers (which would mean 291 million kilometers). On the other hand, Michelin is presenting its prototype Vision tire at Movin’On, which has no air, is rechargeable and is connected. In this prototype, 100% recyclable, “advanced materials” and 3D printing technologies are used to manufacture and renew the tread, highlighted the manufacturer.

As professionals in the world of tires, the Andrés Group has compiled the most frequent damages detected in tires during the summer:

Greater wear. The components of the tire suffer much more for the use in journeys of long route and for the high temperatures that reaches the asphalt, that arrives up to 10 degrees above the ambient temperature.

Deformation. Wear is sometimes irregular due to misalignment, dampening problems or inadequate pressure. Therefore, deformation of the wheels is observed. When the tire takes on an oval shape and wears more in the center band, it is because the pressure is excessive or the alignment of the steering is too open. If the wear occurs at the edges means that the pressure is too low, there is overload or an alignment is very closed.
Loss of pressure The decrease in pressure may be due to the loss of the valve plugs.

Bad cushioning The shock absorbers are degraded little by little and without almost realizing affect the duration of the tire, reducing it by up to 50%.

Abrupt brakes. In traffic jams or at times when there is heavy traffic on the road, there are many driving errors that also affect the condition of the tires, such as sudden braking, constant gear changes, or incorrect curves that can cause an effort. extra of the covers to hold the car in the
lateral displacement.

Braking distance and aquaplaning. The low pressure also leads to an increase in braking distance and if we add wet soil, the risks increase exponentially and it is time to be afraid of aguaplaning, before which we should be warned during the surprising summer storms.

Less adherence to asphalt. If the pressure of the wheels is too high it decreases the capacity of adherence to the asphalt with the danger that this entails besides making the driving harder and more uncomfortable

The European Commission, in the initial investigation file opened by the Anti-Dumping Commission of imports of bus and truck tires from Asia, issued a decision that it was agreed not to retroactively apply anti-dumping measures. In its resolution, the Commission argues its decision having found that, according to the most recent data, there was no substantial increase in imports compared to the level of imports during the investigation period.

In this way, it includes one of the allegations that ADINE formalized when it was filed by the Commission following the adoption of the provisional measures. ADINE argued that the circumstances foreseen in the Regulation for the adoption of the measures were not retroactive, since it had been found that the volume of imports from Asia had not increased. In addition, the Commission has corrected downwards the anti-dumping rates initially fixed in the provisional measures, considering that there is a segmentation of the Union market at three levels, and that the Provisional Regulation presented exhaustive analyzes and data by segment.

However, the approach used in the interim phase, of a profit objective for all levels, had the effect of overprotecting the Union producers of the dumped imports of level 3 tires, which could not reach the objective benefit stipulated for the industry as a whole. Therefore, the need to use the profitability of each level was demonstrated, in order to calculate the non-injurious price and the margin of injury for an adequate application of the rule. That is why the Commission has considered it more appropriate to establish the “objective” benefits by level, in this particular case, because the form of the measures is a fixed duty per tire, which in turn is based on a margin of damage derived from a control number of the product by level.

Due to the inclusion of Spain in the European Alliance for the Road, the Spanish Confederation of Transport of Goods has decided to analyze different points on the change of this policy. It makes reference to the diverse factors that the change of Government generates, as well as the traditional points of view with respect to that policy. This Alliance arises to face fraudulent practices and favor the situation of workers, but in turn, other factors are born that do not meet these principles, which are: First of all, the lack of a complete and true interpretation of these practices, since only 10 of the 28 EU Member States are actually represented.

It is creating a gap between the interests of the countries that consider themselves to be more restrictive and protectionist, such as the central countries, as well as other countries in the periphery, such as Spain, in favor of flexibility. In addition, many of the rules of this alliance have attempted against the single market, so they have become under infringement procedure. According to the CETM, “although we consider it essential to urgently develop a harmonized plan that fights against problems such as social dumping, mailbox companies and the unfair competition exercised by certain illegal cooperatives, we can not support an alliance with countries that, far from seeking Cohesion, only worry about protecting their internal markets, opposing the implementation of such important measures for the Spanish transport of goods by road “.

Which is described below: Show that professional drivers are itinerant, not displaced, due to their specific work. As far as cabotage is concerned, establish simpler rules. This could be achieved by eliminating the limit of cabotage operations after 5 days of carrying out international transport. In order for the driver to enjoy the weekly rest days, it would be necessary to make the European Regulation 561/2006 more flexible, extending the number of days to nine (three more than the current ones). In cases where there is not a sufficient number of hotels to accommodate all drivers, or that do not meet the minimum comfort requirements for their stay, drivers are allowed to take their weekly rest in cabins of a tractor that does. make. The establishment of a community regulation that regulates the figure of the minimum wage, without it being necessary the increase of the documentary requirements and that is common for all the member states.

A team of eight evaluators has traveled the Spanish roads taking data of its state of conservation, the Spanish Association of the Road (AEC) presented on Thursday July 12 the results of its Study on Conservation Investment Needs 2017-2018.

The study that was made for the first time in 1985 notes the state in which they are located in the road networks and quantifies the replacement needs of its most significant elements: road signs, vertical and horizontal signs, safety barriers, beacons and lighting. The technicians have covered, examined and qualified some 3,000 sections of road, each measuring 100 meters, selected at random from both the State Roads Network and the Network dependent on the Autonomous Communities and Provincial Councils.

In total, 3 million square meters of pavement, 3,000 vertical code signs, 900 kilometers of road markings, 270 kilometers of metal barriers and 25,000 beaconing elements have been inspected. In the study, it remains latent that one of every thirteen kilometers of the Spanish road network presents significant deteriorations in more than 50% of the surface of the pavement, accumulating potholes, ruts and longitudinal and transversal cracks.

In general terms, the study reveals how the lack of conservation is taking its toll on the Spanish road infrastructures, a heritage valued at 145,000 million euros, and that, as of 2009, has been abandoned to its fate victim of the successive and repeated adjustments in public budgets. Turning this situation around requires a minimum investment of 7,054 million euros, an amount in which the AEC figures the deficit that accumulates the maintenance of all road infrastructure in the country and that is distributed to the State and Autonomous networks, as follows: 211 million in the network managed by the State and 4,843 million in which the autonomous and provincial governments manage.

According to data collected by the Ministry of Development, in 2017 more than 148,000 infractions were detected exclusively for transport, 1.8% more than the previous year. The sum of the amount paid by the transport companies is 87 million euros, 4% higher than the previous year. In 2017, the downward curve that started in 2010 the sum paid by companies for transport sanctions was broken.

That year the administrations raised 154 million, a figure that was decreasing successively until reaching the figure of 84.4 million in 2016. But in 2017 this trend broke when exceeding 87 million euros. In spite of the fact that in 2017, 1831 fewer cases were resolved, so it follows that the average amount has also been higher (in a file several infractions can be collected) in 2016 the average amount was 780 euros and last year amounted to 825 euros.

Among the groups of detected infractions, the following stand out: 8.566 for lack of transport card; 609 tachograph manipulations; 54,809 infractions in driving times and rest hours, which represent 1% of controlled driving days; by speed limiter 618 infractions; 18,111 excess weight; 2,819 infringements of dangerous goods and 1,185 in perishable goods. Note that the Civil Guard inspected 203,072 vehicles on the road, compared to 223,515 in 2016, which represents a decrease of 9.15% over the previous year.

What would suppose an increase of diesel in, at least 9.55 cents to which we must add the rise of the regional section scheduled for the first month of next year. The government is considering increasing taxes on diesel to match its cost to that of gasoline.

This measure was anticipated by the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, in the plenary session of last Wednesday in the Congress, stating that her department is studying an “environmental taxation” that would seek to avoid “aggressive behavior with the environment”. The measure would be to match the special tax levied on gasoil with gasoline, which in principle will end the price gap between both fuels. According to this proposal, the tax increase would be up to 9.55 cents per liter, which would have to add the 4.8 cents per liter of increase, both for gasoline and diesel, which will enter into force on 1 January, as a result of the forecast contained in the Budget Law that is processed in the Parliament, and which provides for an equalization of the regional tax on fuels at its maximum level.

This measure would provide an additional collection of 2,140 million if it went from once 30.70 cents per liter of tax on diesel fuel to 40.35 cents per liter with which it is taxed on gasoline, but applied in a separately, it would mean obtaining some 600 million euros in revenue. It should be noted that this measure would not affect the price of liter of diesel fuel for transporters and farmers.

The government has decided to eliminate tolls on the highways whose concessions are coming due, which has caused different reactions among the affected sectors. Seopan, the employers’ association of construction companies and concessionaires has not wanted to position directly and refers to the estimate made in April that the abolition of tolls would cost 450 million annually for public coffers, only for those sections whose concession expires in the immediate future.

On the other hand, celebrates the decision the transport sector, for which means a saving of up to 1,900 euros per year on average per vehicle. According to Ceopan, the liberalization of tolls at the end of the concessions and reverting the toll roads to the public network would cost 450 million euros a year for the State if we consider only the roads whose concessions end between this year and 2021, if we take into account the 2,550 km of networks in the country the amount goes up to 1,000 million.

The decision of the Ministry of Development currently affects three routes, which expire this year and next, the AP-1 Burgos-Armiñón, the AP-4 Sevilla-Cádiz and the section of the AP-7 between Alicante and Tarragona . However, it can serve as a precedent for the three that end their concession in 2021, the section of the AP-7 that joins Barcelona, with the Jonquera and Tarragona, and that of the AP-2 Zaragoza-Mediterráneo. The road transport sector values the announcement of the elimination of tolls very positively. Juan José Gil, Secretary of Fenadismer, which brings together 32,000 small and medium-sized transport companies, has celebrated the news as “very important and very positive” for the group of transporters, both for economic reasons and traffic and “security”.

Gil stressed that, on average, each heavy truck paid about 1,900 euros annually in tolls, has also stressed that opening the highways will be an alternative to carriers who, to avoid tolls, choose national roads. “We are accused of congesting nationals, so without tolls, both truckers and cars will be able to choose”, relieving traffic on secondary roads. Finally, he celebrates the news for “security reasons and not so much speed”, by opening transporters more comfortable and safe routes.

One of the objectives of José Luís Ábalos, the new development minister, is to transform more than 1,000 km of freeways into freeways. The first decision affects the AP-1, between Burgo and Armiñón. It joins the AP-7, between Alicante and Tarragona, the AP-4, between Seville and Cádiz, the AP-2, between Zaragoza and the Mediterranean and the stretches of the AP-7 Tarragona-La Jonquera and Montmeló-El Papiol, which ends on August 31, 2021. On the other hand, the groups that supported Pedro Sanchez in the motion of censure, hope that the new Government will fulfill the promises of freeing these roads from tolls.

The Catalan independence groups consider that the investments made in the AP-7 have already been paid and define as a comparative offense the current situation in Catalonia to other communities that have free highways. On the other hand, the regional governments of Susana Díaz or of Ximo Puig in the Valencian Community, and that of Franco Lambán in Aragón, also demand the gratuity of the highways in their respective territories.

However, the employers of large construction companies and concessionaires, Seopan has asked the Ministry of Public Works to maintain the toll since its liberalization “would cause chaos”, with the traffic of trucks going up to 8,000 daily. “It would be unacceptable to maintain a minimum level of service on the highway,” explains Julián Núñez, president of the employer’s association. According to Seopan, the maintenance of the toll can save taxpayers about 300 million euros, since the highway has pending investments to implement the third lane in the entire infrastructure.

The Basque bus manufacturer launches a model designed for industrial use with a capacity to transport up to 18 tons. Irizar has taken a step further in its commitment to electric transport by including in its range of models the manufacture of an electric truck. Called Irizar ie truck, it is an 8 meter long vehicle with a capacity to transport up to 18 tons of weight. Although there is no date yet to appear on the market, Héctor Olabe, CEO of Irizar e-mobility has announced that it will have the same electric motor and batteries as the buses.

The Irizar ie truck was designed at the facilities of the Basque company in Aduna. The new vehicle is a truck with electric traction that “allows it to circulate through cities and urban environments without generating atmospheric or acoustic pollution,” said Olabe. At first the ie Truck will be used for the collection of waste in the cities, however, its “chassis chassis will adapt to the needs of the market” to give it other industrial uses.

The prototype of the Basque company has unlike conventional trucks with a driver’s cabin suitable for four people and a front window, similar to that used in buses, which offers greater field of vision to the driver. The cabin is located at a lower height, with a single access level which according to Hector Olabe makes it “the vehicle with the lowest access height of the market at present, and adds” its chassis allows to install “all kinds of bodies existing without hardly needing adaptation “.

Irizar has not put a date on the commercialization of its electric truck, the Basque company has since 2011 with its hybrid and electric vehicles project whose operations and manufacturing center is now located in its new Aduna plant, in which it has invested 75 million of euros and has a production capacity of 1000 vehicles per year.

The European Commission proposes to limit the carbon dioxide emissions of heavy vehicles. The aim of Brussels is to reduce the amount of toxic gases emitted by trucks into the atmosphere. This will be possible by imposing a reduction of 15% by 2025 that will increase to 30% in 2030, both percentages with respect to the 2019 emissions. Community authorities approve the agreement highlighting the positive effects it will have on the environment, but the sector see the objective too strict. As is common, these figures have not satisfied almost anyone.

The defenders of the environment defend that it is possible a greater one lowered, whereas the automobile employers defended that the goal was too ambitious and it will remain in 7% in 2025 with the final objective of 16% in 2030. The Commission has opted for some intermediate measures, but keeping in mind the obligations of the Paris Agreement. The energy commissioner, Migue Arias Cañete said: “All sectors should contribute to the achievement of our climate commitments.”

The European Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA), which represents the seven largest companies that market trucks in the continent, describes the proposal as “too aggressive” and estimates that Brussels ignores the ability to adapt to new technologies due to the greater complexity of your vehicles in front of the cars. “The heavy vehicles that will be sold in 20025 are being manufactured at the moment. The level of ambition is too strict for such a short period, “he criticized in a statement.

Initially, the regulation will only affect the heavier trucks, but from 2022 it will be extended to lighter trucks, buses and trailers. The international context favors the proposal of the Commission. The barrel of Brent oil reached this Thursday at $ 80, maximum in three and a half years. Some analysts predict a jump to $ 98. Its contagion to the real economy is a fact: the price of fuel in Spain accumulates in Spain eight consecutive weeks to the rise.

The European Union marks to Spain a reduction in the ages to be able to drive trucks and buses, when establishing the minimum age to drive trucks in 18 years and 21 years to drive buses.

This is announced by the publication of May 2 of the Official Journal of the European Union of the new directive 2018/645 by modifying different issues regarding the CAP as well as modifying the ages for minimums to obtain driving licenses for trucks and buses, which will force Spain to change the General Driver Regulations to be in line with the new European regulation, in what is currently already working the General Directorate of Traffic for its next start-up, although the Directive establishes a term of two years.

Spain will adjust the minimum ages required for the driving of trucks and buses to those established for many years in practically all the countries of the European Union, which had been a demand for many years by the transport associations, “Because it put our country at a disadvantage compared to other countries in terms of access to new professionals to the sector, which was also shocking to occupy Spain second place in the ranking of youth unemployment in the EU”, highlight in a transport organization.

In this way, once the new General Driver Regulations are approved in Spain, the minimum ages for obtaining driving licenses for trucks and buses will be as follows: for categories C1 and C1E it will be 18 years; for categories C and CE it will be 21 years; for categories D1 and D1E it will be 21 years and for categories D and DE it will be 24 years.

The hybrid excavator system is based on the motor-generator set of electric rotation that replaces the turret’s hydraulic rotation motor. The assembly captures the kinetic energy at each braking of the turret and converts it into electrical energy. The regenerated energy is stored in a super capacitor and helps the motor in the following accelerations.

When the driver releases the lever to stop the rotation of the upper structure the electric motor immediately causes the generator to function as a brake of the turning system. The energy produced during the braking phase is used to recharge the capacitors, which in effect reduces fuel consumption and emissions. Hitachi declares that its TRIAS HX System incorporates the adapted technologies of hydraulic, electric and battery-powered excavators and reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions up to 31%.

The TRIAS HX System combines hybrid technology with hydraulic system Energetically efficient to minimize fuel consumption. This is transmitted through the Power Control Unit and stored in the capacitors. It can then be used to accelerate or move the arm or other upper structures. The extreme tests to the ZH210LC-5 hybrid excavator went through the tests in the polar circle. The machine worked for 3 months at temperatures below -30ºC and carried out some earthmoving or truck refueling tasks during a road construction project in Rovaniemi.

The operator Kari Saraniemi states: “The rotary movement of the hybrid excavator is even smoother and more precise than in a conventional machine. Also, it makes less noise in the cab while the fuel consumption is excellent. ” The owner of the company Tuomo Kemppe adds: “I would have no doubts recommending the ZH210LC-5, and the next time we are going to buy a new vehicle we will evaluate the price and maintenance costs. Hybrid machines are very quiet and easy to handle, the rotating movement is soft and sensitive. The use of fuel is undoubtedly very favorable when compared to other machines that work on site. “

The German manufacturer has made the balance of its activity in Spain during the previous year and has anticipated the forecasts for this year in course.

The Commercial Director of Trucks MAN Truck & Bus Iberia, Jaime Baquedano, was very satisfied by the results achieved during the previous year: “We are the heaviest brand that has grown the most (+ 8%)”. At the time of analyzing the evolution of the market, he was convinced that the tractors that lowered their sales by 4.5% in the analyzed course, are a segment that “has practically reached saturation”, and points out that the Rigid (Distribution and Works) will maintain its positive trend during the current year (+ 19.4% in 2017). MAN closed the previous year with more than 3100 registered units (> 6tm) and a market share of 13.1% in Spain, which places it second in the podium. The German company grew in all segments, with particularly significant increases in the segments from 11 to 15,9 tons (2.9 points) and more than 16 tons (0.9 points).

As for the vans, a market in which MAN began its activity in 2017 with the commercialization of the TGE, “the objective is to reach the customers of trucks with multigame products, small Rent a Car and self-employed”.

MAN TopUsed: a year of record

The VO truck division also had a good exercise. “Our sales have grown by 26.6% in 2017, we have reached a record number (1762 units)”. Spain has positioned itself as the third market in sales of MAn TopUsed trucks worldwide. The goals of this area for the coming months will be to continue to improve the residual value of vehicles, expand the MAN TopUsed network in the peninsula and encourage its presence in large fleets. Finally, they have announced a change campaign for TGA by TGX under very advantageous conditions.

The Waymo company, a subsidiary of the American company Google, has announced that it will launch a pilot truck program in Atlanta next week.

The trucks will work carrying loads to the Google data centers in the city. Waymo has proposed to establish a freight transport service, for which they will set up autonomous driving systems in their trucks.

Uber announced last week that it used autonomous trucks for real orders, which is a breakthrough, so the subsidiary division of Google trucks has not wanted to be left behind and has announced that they are already being used autonomous vehicles for real charges and that Google It is the first beneficiary.

The American company has announced that they have been testing in California and Arizona, but that they will now arrive in Georgia in order to test their trucks in one of the largest logistics centers in the US. “It is the perfect environment for our next testing phase of the Waymo autonomous trucks,” the company said. The program that will be developed in Atlanta will allow the company to further develop its technology in order to adjust and fine-tune its trucks to both ends of the transport chain. “We have to integrate operations with cargo networks, factories, distribution centers, ports and terminals.”

In conducting the tests a highly trained driver will be in the cabin to monitor the systems and take control if necessary when the vehicles reach the highways of the region.

This new activity will affect one of the key sectors of the US economy. “Road transport is vital to the US economy, and we believe that autonomous driving technology has the potential to make this sector safer and stronger. We can reimagine many different types of transport, from taxi services to logistics, “explained Waymo.

The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), through the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard, has joined the campaign to control vehicles for the transport of goods and people (Operation Truck and Bus) that the Tispol, International Organization Traffic Police, has launched. The purpose of this campaign is to control these types of vehicles that were involved in 11% of accidents with victims.

For a week, the Civil Guard traffic agents will influence the monitoring and control of tachographs, speed, excess weight, etc. They will check the pertinent documentation of the truck and the driver, that the driver is not under the influence of alcohol or of any drug and that the occupants of the vehicle make use of the safety belt.

The controls will be carried out at any time of the day and on any kind of roads, especially on roads where the circulation of this type of vehicles is greater. According to Gregorio Serrano, general director of traffic, “the importance of the transport of goods and people by road requires special vigilance, taking into account that both types of vehicles are larger than the rest and that, in case of accident, they are much more harmful. “

According to the DGT, the majority of accidents with victims and deceased in which trucks were involved took place on interurban roads, while in the case of accidents with buses the majority happened on urban roads. According to the data collected by the management, the main cause of accidents is the distraction behind the wheel.

It should be noted that in order to improve the road safety of road transport, the DGT will notify the General Directorate of Land Transportation of the infractions committed by reoffending drivers so that they may study the possibility that the companies that carry out the most serious faults lose the ability to operate in the market.

The French Ministry of Transport has repealed the fee of 40 euros for each worker posted in its territory.

The so-called “Macron Law” establishes that workers who travel to the French country to carry out cabotage transport must carry documentation that proves that they receive the minimum wage in France.

The documentation is obtained through a displacement declaration that is processed electronically, which includes the data of the transport company, the driver and his salary, as well as a copy of the work contract.

The rate was intended to offset the costs of commissioning and operating the computer system to control the number of posted workers.

The National Federation of Transport Associations of Spain, Fenadismer, had denounced to the European Commission the decision of the French government to impose the costs of this regulation on the workers themselves, arguing that this imposition violated the European Directive on the posting of workers. It argued that such a measure went against the fundamental principles of free movement of persons and goods set out in the Treaty on European Union.

On 9 February, France enacted by Decree 2018-82 the definitive repeal of this fee, considering that “its imposition is not justified” and is considered “a protectionist measure” incompatible with European legislation, as explained by the decree.

The Spanish Confederation of Transport of Goods (CETM) will present in the coming weeks some 6,000 lawsuits against the six manufacturers accused by Brussels of setting the prices of these vehicles for fourteen years.

Just over twenty years ago, in January 1997, Brussels witnessed a meeting between six of the largest truck manufacturers in Europe (Daf, Iveco, MAN, Mercedes, Renault and Volvo). As announced by the European Commission a little over a year ago, this was the beginning of a cartel that would last more than ten years and in which six companies controlled prices and new technologies that reached the market.

Brussels decided to sanction this agreement with a fine of 2,930 million euros, the highest fine imposed on a cartel. But everything points to the fact that this will not be the only amount that companies will have to pay, but also that they will have to face the great amount of demands that are coming to them.

The first sentences in Spain will arrive this year, the Spanish carriers that have been harmed have a claim period of five years. It is estimated that the return by truck will be between 13,000 and 16,000 euros. Spanish hauliers who bought a Mercedes-Benz (Daimler), Renault, Volvo, Scania, Daf or MAN truck between 1997 and 2011 will have a period of five years to present documentation certifying the purchase of the vehicle. It is estimated that the demands will cost 400 million for companies.

In Germany, the extra cost of trucks was between 70,000 and 75,000 euros, which represents an increase over its original price of 12.5%, a variation similar to that which could occur in Spain.

Not only has it failed to comply with European standards, but the Spanish Constitution itself in terms of free market.

According to the European Competition Commission, Scania was responsible for organizing the meetings. The first meeting to set prices took place in January 1997 in Brussels, and from there the six brands held frequent meetings.

The cartel established the basic factory prices of its medium and heavy trucks according to the country of sale, and as it has become common, they altered the control of polluting emissions.

Clarify that the concessionaires have been declared exempt from all responsibility and blame for these events.

The European Court of Justice ruled that “any company that has at least one vehicle can obtain a carrier’s license.

Brussels has declared illegal the requirement that requires a fleet of at least 3 trucks to operate in the freight sector. The sentence has also repealed the regulations that require a minimum of five buses to establish a passenger transport company. According to the European court “The requirement set by Spanish regulations is discriminatory and disproportionate”. The European Commission denounced Spain in April 2017 for “possible breach of the regulation on access rules” to the merchandise sector, an assessment with which the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) agreed that it requested the Government that modified some rules of the Land Transport Law (LOTT) in order to adapt them to the regulations of the European Union because “it had a negative impact on consumers and users” when establishing access barriers.

After the publication of the verdict, the Government is obliged to adopt the appropriate measures in order to comply with European regulations, otherwise the European Court may impose the payment of a sum or coercive fine until the sentence is fulfilled. This will force to modify the project of reform of the Regulation of Regulation of the Terrestrial Transports that at present processed the Ministry of Development and that therefore also will affect the transport of passengers in bus.

The ruling has been accepted in various ways in the sector. While the Fenadismer association, which groups small and individual fleets, demands maximum involvement from the government, the Spanish Confederation of Transport of Goods considers the ruling a setback.

The CETM, the Spanish Confederation of Transport of Merchandise, warns that the more than probable start-up of the Ecotasa in France would have immediate negative effects on the Spanish transport of merchandise, since every day more than 25,000 trucks loaded with Spanish products cross ( Automotive components, paper, fruits, vegetables, etc.) for the different European markets.

In a communiqué issued, ECTM argues that “the vehicles would see their sales affected by having to bear this new tax, since the passage through France is mandatory.”

The leaders of the confederation understand that “the start-up could be a double taxation, since the transport sector already pays the corresponding tolls for the use of the French motorways and covers, with the rest of its fiscal contributions, all the external costs it generates.

The ECTM hopes that this proposal, which has to be presented to the French Parliament in the spring, will not succeed as it did the previous six times that the French government proposed this tax for trucks that cross French roads.

If this proposal succeeds, the tax would contribute to the coffers of the French State around 550 million euros per year, which would be paid annually in the case of the owners of French vehicles and in shorter periods in the case of foreigners.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages and each one adapts to different situations, in this blog we will try to help you choose the best option for you.

In Spain its use is not usual due to the fact that we live in a country that is generally hot and that its use is only obligatory in certain circumstances, but it is never necessary to be prepared.

WINTER TIRES

The main advantage of winter tires is their high performance on snow compared to chains. It should also be noted its excellent effectiveness when the temperature is below 7 degrees and when the surface is wet.

As a disadvantage we find that its performance drops considerably when the asphalt is dry and the temperature is somewhat higher, causing greater wear on the tire.

CHAINS

In contrast, the chains are much cheaper than buying the winter tires and having to go to a workshop to be assembled.

For people who do not plan to drive on snow and do not intend to do so, we recommend you wear chains because you never know when they may need them and they can save you from a dangerous and unwanted situation.

The main disadvantage of the use of chains is that they limit the speed of circulation, usually at about 50 km / hour.

WHAT DO I BUY?

The most advisable thing is that you act according to the climate of your locality, in case of living in the northern half of the peninsula we recommend the use of winter tires during the same. On the contrary, if you live in a drier and hotter area such as the south of the peninsula, we recommend you to wear chains since they will be useful at very specific moments.

The company, which already owns the Swedish brand, acquires 8.2% of the truck manufacturer.

The Chinese automaker Zhejiang Geely announced on Wednesday the purchase of 8.2% of AB Volvo, the second truck manufacturer in the world. The Chinese company, which also owns the Volvo car division, becomes the first shareholder of the group, although it will not have the majority of the voting rights. The value of the transaction amounted to the figure of 27,200 million crowns (about 3,260 million dollars), according to a calculation of Reuters, although none of the parties revealed the exact value of the transaction. In the operation, Geely, the Chinese company, which also owns the Volvo car division, becomes the group’s largest shareholder, although it will not have the majority of the voting rights. According to the president of the Chinese company, there will be significant changes in the direction of AB Volvo and strategic decision making will continue in Sweden.

The Volvo group, like many other car firms, decided two decades ago to separate Volvo Car Group from AB Volvo. The first was acquired in 2010 was acquired by the Chinese company, Geely. Geely has confirmed that it is not his intention to join them again, although he admits that he will use the same penetration strategy in the market he used with the car division, with this acquisition he hopes to join efforts in the development of electric motors, since both Volvo as Geely announced that they will not present any new engine model from 2019.

The Chinese company invested around 9,000 million euros in the Swedish brand, which at that time was going through a bad time, and achieved an indisputable success in its penetration in the market of the Asian giant, as well as in the recovery of sales and image globally. Volvo last year sold 534,000 vehicles, a record high, of which almost 91,000 units were in China.

Although at first you might think that buying a used truck could be a mistake, this is not the case. Absolutely. And, as we are going to see with a little more detail below, there are a number of advantages that we have to take into account. Something that becomes more important when it comes to not only buying a single truck but a fleet for our company.

5 advantages for buying a second-hand truck is a good idea with the aim of having a much broader perspective, we will delve into 5 aspects very to take into account to opt for this alternative.

• The investment will be low. The price is, without doubt, the main advantage that we find when we want to buy a second-hand truck. According to different statistics, and although it is true that it will always depend on the moment, the brand and the model, the truth is that the savings between the purchase of a new or second-hand truck, can amount to 75%.

• Insurance will be cheaper. As a consequence of the first aspect that we have commented, we have to make reference to a second that is not less important. Because, if we buy a truck of a relatively low amount, the insurance policy that we are going to have to contract, will entail less expenses. Something that will mean significant savings if we have several trucks in staff.

• The guarantee is total. There is a totally erroneous belief that a used vehicle lacks an equal competitive guarantee as another vehicle that is new. This is not the case at all. In fact, dealers who sell used trucks are responsible not only for subjecting the vehicle to an exhaustive review but to provide a complete guarantee to the buyer. Do not forget that the reputation of that dealer is at stake.

• A great range to choose from. This is something very to take into account. It may be the case that buying a new truck, despite having found the one that best suits what we need, is not possible due to budget problems. However, when we look for that same type of truck but second hand, the possibilities multiply as the prices are much more affordable. In short, we will have access to a much larger vehicle catalog, without a doubt.

• Easier to buy spare parts. Acquiring a used vehicle means that it has been on the market for some time. Well, that detail, which may seem insignificant, makes it possible for us to find spare parts for him more easily by being a model that is more widespread.

As a final conclusion, to say that this alternative of which we have spoken today is not only ideal for those self-employed who want to minimize costs but for those companies that need a renewal of their truck fleet and can allocate a very high economic level.

If there is something that we can consider to be of vital importance when we talk about a vehicle, whatever it is, it is the revision. This not only minimizes the risk of suffering a serious breakdown but, in the case that it is already appearing, it could be undertaken in time with the reduction the cost that this entails.

But this is much more important when we talk about an industrial vehicle. Not in vain, they are usually, as a general rule, vehicles of greater precision and that are subject to a greater demand for a longer time.

Advantages of carrying out a comprehensive review of industrial vehicles

However, once the importance of the review is understood, it is worthwhile to dwell on one aspect that is crucial: the fact of carrying it out in a workshop that has a comprehensive review service.

• They are more complete. Those workshops that have the comprehensive review service usually have a multidisciplinary team of professionals. To this we must add that the technology of the equipment available to them is totally avant-garde. This has an obvious consequence. The review is more complete due to the flow of information that may be among the professionals of the same team before certain details.

• Money is saved. Undoubtedly, it is not the same cost to go to a single center than to go to several. A center that brings together all possible services will always have a more competitive price than if we have to assume the cost of several centers. This, after a year, for example, and with a fleet of 20 industrial vehicles, can be a great saving.

• Time is saved. Within the world of the company, time is a variable that has no price. Thanks to the workshops that conduct comprehensive reviews, we can review the entire vehicle in the same period of time. The fact of going to several workshops will make the management much more tedious and therefore it will continue over time.

• It gives more management facilities. The management is much simpler. By management we understand management of invoices, payments and guarantees. We can agglutinate all this documentation in a much more agile way if this belongs to a single workshop. Otherwise, it can become a much more complex process.

• Collaboration agreements can be reached. This is an agreement that is surely less exploited than it should be. And is that if a certain company reaches an agreement with a certain workshop to take there for a prolonged period, all the vehicles in its fleet, the prices that can be obtained can lead to really interesting discounts.

Five advantages that should be taken into account if what is intended is to optimize the management derived from the revisions of the industrial vehicles of a certain fleet.
