More than 100,000 Spanish truckers have sued the truck manufacturers that formed a cartel that was dedicated to inflate the sales prices of new trucks during a period of 14 years that lasted from 1997 to 2011. In 2011, the European Commission itself started an investigation into the matter (the manufacturers also avoided adapting the exported vehicles to save environmental costs).

The lawsuits are following two paths, that of justice in Spain and Germany, and which aim to recover, on average, 16.5% of the cost of the vehicle in its day, which means an average of € 12,000 per vehicle. In total, as we mentioned before, manufacturers would have to return around 1,200 million euros.

German justice is the fastest because there is already jurisprudence. On October 15, a judgment was issued in favor of the truckers in a complaint of this type, with the judge ruling that it is proportionate to claim up to 15% of the value of the vehicle.

For this reason, many truck drivers have chosen to make a macrodemand in the German country. On the other hand, in Spain, the lawsuits go through the courts of the Mercantile. Apparently there could be two previous lawsuits with a ruling in favor of the plaintiffs that could serve as precedents.
